Lawan answers Okorocha's request for advice on how to re-enter the Senate without contesting in a primary.

Lawan responds after Okorocha asked him for lessons on how to return to the senate without contesting in a primary

During the valedictory session of the 9th Senate on Saturday, June 10, Senator Rochas Okorocha of Imo West asked Senate President Ahmad Lawan to teach him how to return to the senate without running in a primary election.

While Lawan and Okorocha contested the APC presidential primary election, which they lost to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Senate President was able to return to the National Assembly thanks to a Supreme Court decision.

Okorocha, who spoke at the valedictory session, questioned Lawan's ability to return to the Senate. He stated;

"I did not run for Senate during this time period." I only ran for the position of president. You are an extremely astute politician.  Another chapter in our political history that we need to discuss is how you returned to the Senate.

"I was there in the field with you running for president, and I had no idea how you were able to meander and leave some of us behind." You must teach me how to do that the next time."

"It was simple. I was in the field with you, and after our defeat, my constituents thought they needed me again. They asked me to return, and the journey was difficult because we had to go through the courts.

"I didn't even file an appeal against the decision that denied me the contest." The party and stakeholders took my case all the way to the Supreme Court.

 As a result, there is nothing noteworthy or critical. In fact, you've learned nothing from it."
